2) Become your own personal researcher
It is a cliché to say reflect on your own practice. But behind this mantra lies a very important point. What you do in the classroom affects how the students respond. If you know what you are doing you can manage how the students respond.
This means that for each lesson you should be asking and answering questions like the ones below
When I said "....." how did Bobby react
What did I do or say that enabled Charlie to do that
What happened when I turned my back to write on the board
What is the impact of where I stand/how I stand in the class
What happened when I stop speaking/speak faster/speak slower/speak less
What is the immediate reaction of students when they enter the class
How do pupils respond when I introduce demonstrations/role -plays/pictures/models/text /discussion
